Green buildings - Yes. We also need modern efficient mass transit. City and county officials should be ashamed of the lack of intelligence in the area planning. BTW, walking and biking on 100+ days is wholly unappealing.

Going to work green would help too. If we want to reduce the use of fossil fuels, cut congestion, promote a healthier lifestyle and healthier workers, there needs to be a positive promotion of going to work on bicycles, walking, using mass transit

If any one would look at the cost of "green" and payback to the consumer they would soon realize what a scam it truely is. We pollute the earth more by going green.

If the governments of the arid Western States would show leadership by requireing residential, and commercial construction to incorporate grey water, water harvesting, and hot water recirculating systems we'd have a start on meaningful water conservation.

Green is usually about energy and water useage. IEQ is left over as a distant third. Occupants breathe a few times a minute. Asthma in kids is growing.Be more concerned with VOC and formaldehyde than CO2 outdoors.Plant more trees. Nature works nicely.

Instead of investing funds in expanding sewer system, State-approved dry composting toilets should be encouraged to conserve water on Mt. Lemmon and similar areas, where water is very limited and standard septic systems often can't be used due to terrain.

I am by far an expert on the requirements for LEED certified buildings but from what I have heard, they don't do that much for environmental protection and just raise the price of the facilities.

Government should set the example: All new government buildings should be LEED certified, with rain-water harvesting and gray-water features to irrigate landscaping.

I don't think there should even be any doubts and long decision processes in permitting green building, there is a few good builders in Tucson who have experiences in this field and we should thank them for building a better world for all of us.

I agree with the sentiment that has already been expressed here, that a small investment of time and money at the onset of all new construction, can have large scaled environmentally benefits down the road.
